Good morning and happy Monday! As noted over on Twitter, my day’s already off to a good start.
And for all my 90’s kids, I just listened to something awesome and wanted to bless your Mondays with this beautiful acoustic version of MMMBop…which the Hanson Brothers sang themselves last week!
The song is still just as catchy AF 20 years later as it was when my sister had just upgraded from a cassette player to a Walkman CD player for a family road trip and listened to the Hanson album nonstop in the car (and was eventually forced to let me have a little listen as well).
I also came across a recent interview with them where Taylor drops some knowledge on the lyrics in the song besides the repetition of “Mmmbop, ba duba dop Ba du bop, ba duba dop Ba du bop, ba duba dop Ba du, yeah” that the majority of us have never thought about before:
“It does tap into a theme we’ve continued to have, which is to interweave relatively serious thoughts — the verses, you know, ‘You have so many relationships in this life / Only one or two will last / You go through so much pain and strife / You turn your back and they’re gone so fast.’ It’s not exactly sunshine and rainbows.”
